Alternative Brewing — Espresso

ARecipe by Alternative Brewing·aeromatic.app

This recipe requires the Fellow Prismo attachment, a valve which increases pressure to get closer to a true espresso. While the inverted method is usually unnecessary when brewing with the Prismo, Alternative Brewing's recipe uses it in order to remove excess air.

Ingredients

  • 18 grams of ground coffee
  • 55 grams of 95ºC water

How to brew

  1. 1

Using the inverted method, bring the plunger in line with level 2 on the chamber.

  2. 2

Place the metal filter in the Prismo cap so that it's ready to screw on.

  3. 3

Add 18 g of ground coffee to the brew chamber.

  4. 4

Pour 55 g of hot water over the grounds.

  5. 5

Stir vigorously to agitate the grounds.

  6. 6

Press down slightly on the chamber to remove excess air (be careful not to spill).

  7. 7

Screw the Prismo cap on tightly and let steep.

  8. 8

Flip the AeroPress and press gently into a cup. Keep pressing all the way through the hissing.
