The classic upright AeroPress is the most forgiving brewer there is — perfect for medium-roast Arabica when you want a clean, sweet cup in two minutes flat. A single pour, a short steep, a slow press.

Use this recipe when…

  • Your bag is a medium-roast everyday coffee.
  • You want fast, repeatable, and hard to mess up.

The single pour

  1. Standard position on your cup. Add 16 g of coffee and tare to zero.
  2. Start the timer, pour 230 g quickly, and stir 3 times.
  3. Insert the plunger and steep to 1:30.
  4. Press slowly over ~30 seconds — stop at the hiss.

Adjustment notes

  • Too intense? Add 30–50 g of hot water to the cup (a bypass).
  • Sour or weak? Grind a click finer or steep 15 seconds longer.
  • Stopping at the hiss keeps bitter fines out of the cup.
